This song was born out of the frustration of a new song-writing partnership that unfortunately didn’t work out.  It was just once of those things: we didn’t come to the project with the same backgrounds in terms of tastes in music, and songwriting and recording experience.  I thought that would be a fertile ground to start out on - projects would be ‘forged in the crucible’ as it were! But I was wrong; it transpired there were too many differences that prevented a fundamental meeting of the minds, which is essential if worthwhile songs are going to be written.

I put some of my frustrations into the lyrics and then decided to extend things from the particular to the general, with comments on the frustrations we all experience from time to time in our relationships with others.

Technical notes:

Recorded and mixed in Sonar Producer X1.  Drums sounds from XLN’s Addictive Drums.  Synth and bass tracks started out as MIDI tracks in Band In A Box where I used two different styles, one for the verses and one for the choruses.  These were amended as needed in Sonar and played through patches on my Roland Fantom X6. The final mix was mastered using T-Racks3 software on preset ‘Master #1’, but I switched off the Brickwall limiter module and used FabFilter’s ProL limiter instead.
